ODO Privacy Policy

ODO: Mileage Tracker, for iPhone and Android · Budtik Ltd · Effective 9 October 2026

The short version

Who we are

ODO is made by Budtik Ltd, a company registered in the United Kingdom. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “Budtik” mean Budtik Ltd. You can contact us at hello@budtik.co. This policy covers ODO for iPhone and ODO for Android. Where they differ, it says so.

Location

ODO uses your phone's location to measure how far you drive. It turns location on when a drive starts (for example when your iPhone connects to CarPlay, or your Android phone to Android Auto or your car's Bluetooth) and off when the drive ends. Your location is used on your phone to add up the distance, and ODO saves the distance and the start and end times of each trip. On Android, a notification shows whenever ODO is logging a drive.

Drive maps. Unless you turn off Save drive maps in ODO's Settings, ODO also saves the route of each drive it logs, so you can see the drive on a map. Routes are kept on your phone and never sent to us. ODO doesn't sync them to iCloud or include them in Android's backup, though on iPhone they're included if you back up the iPhone itself. You can delete all of them at any time in ODO's Settings.

Maps and place names. To draw a map and name the areas a drive started and ended in (such as “Hammersmith”), ODO uses Apple Maps on iPhone and Google Maps and Google's location services on Android. Like any app that shows a map, this sends the area being shown, and the start and end points of the drive being named, to Apple or Google, which handle them under their own privacy policies. ODO keeps the area names with the trip. Your location is never sent to us.

Adding a trip by hand. With ODO Plus or Business, you can type where a trip started and ended, and ODO finds the distance by road. What you type goes from your phone to Apple Maps (iPhone) or Google Maps (Android) to suggest places and find the route, under their privacy policies. It never comes to us, and we don't store it. ODO keeps the places you choose with the trip, and the route as its map unless drive maps are off. It also remembers places, and on Android the distances found, on your phone so they're offered first next time. These aren't synced to iCloud or included in Android's backup.

Permission. ODO asks for location “Always” (iPhone) or “Allow all the time” (Android) so it can log a drive when your car connects, even if the app is closed. You can change this at any time: on iPhone in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → ODO, and on Android in Settings → Apps → ODO → Permissions → Location.

Your trips and settings

ODO stores your trips, your PCP agreement details (such as your start date, allowance and odometer readings), the name of your car, your preferences and, unless you turn them off, your drive maps on your phone. If you use business mileage, it also stores whether each trip was business or personal, what you wrote a business trip was for, and your mileage rates.

iPhone: iCloud. If you leave Sync with iCloud on, ODO also keeps a copy in your private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so your trips and agreement survive reinstalling the app and appear on your other devices. Each trip's details are included, with the names of the places it started and ended in and, if you've tagged it, whether it was business or personal and its purpose; drive maps aren't. This copy is held by Apple in your iCloud account and is only accessible to you. Budtik cannot access it. You can turn sync off in ODO's Settings at any time.

Android: backup. If backup is on in your phone's settings, Android copies ODO's trips, settings and allowance alerts to your Google account, and restores them on a new phone. Drive maps and remembered places aren't included. The copy is held by Google in your account, encrypted when your phone has a screen lock, and Budtik cannot access it.

Your car

So ODO only logs drives in your car, it keeps the name and identifier of your car: on iPhone, as your car reports them through CarPlay; on Android, the car you choose from your phone's Bluetooth devices. These stay on your phone and in your own backup.

Notifications

ODO's notifications (milestone alerts, the monthly summary, “Business or personal?” after a drive, reminders and, on Android, the notification while driving) are created on your phone. No information is sent to us to deliver them.

Purchases

ODO Plus and ODO Business are bought through the App Store on iPhone and Google Play on Android, and processed by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies. We never see your payment details, and we don't link purchases to anything else about you.

Crash reports

If you've chosen in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us anonymous reports when ODO crashes, so we can fix it. These don't include your trips or your location.

Contacting support

If you email us using “Email support” in the app, your email opens with some details that help us look into a problem: the app version, your phone's system version (and on Android its make and model), a few settings (such as your location permission and tracking period) and a short log of what ODO did around recent drives. You can read, edit or delete any of this before you send it. We use what you send only to help you, and we delete support emails when they're no longer needed or when you ask us to.

What we don't do

Children

ODO is intended for drivers and isn't directed at children under 16.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR) you have rights over your personal data, including to access and delete it. Because your ODO data is held on your devices and in your own iCloud or Google account, you control it directly:

For anything else, including data in a support email, contact hello@budtik.co. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how ODO handles data, we'll update this page and the date above, and mention significant changes in the app's release notes.
